The Pittsburgh Business Times recently recognized Gateway Engineers’ CEO, Jason Jesso, as a Workplace Wellness Champion after implementing several healthier food, beverage, and lifestyle alternatives for Gateway employees.  Through Mr. Jesso’s “Eat Well Think Well Act Well” initiative, Gateway Engineers is a unique office environment where employees can grow personally and professionally while developing healthy habits.

Eat Well

Gateway employees have access to the Gateway Micro-Market, which offers fresh, frozen, and dry foods with healthier options at a discounted cost.  Still and sparkling water is also available in multiple flavors, unsweetened or naturally sweetened water.  There is also a high-end coffee machine that makes a variety of warm/cold Starbucks beverages.  Employees have the opportunity to grow organic herbs and vegetables in the Gateway Garden.  Using organic soil, chemical-free planters, and natural deer repellant, employees can select and grow their plants in a 2x6 foot planter.  Finally, Gateway has partnered with a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program where employees can sign up to get weekly or bi-weekly deliveries to the office from representatives at Riverdale Farms.

Act Well

All employees have sit/stand desks, so they have options to sit at their desk or stand while working.  When employees choose to sit, all chairs are height adjustable for their comfort.  Outdoor conference rooms and walking meetings are also an option at the Outdoor Garden Area or the 1-mile outdoor walking trail (under construction).

Think Well

Gateway provides continual self-awareness training for all employees where new tools and reports, as well as discussions on self-awareness, problem-solving, stress management, feedback, and leadership, are provided.  Seat assignments are arranged by personality type, not by technical skills so employees can thrive in "their" environment.  To continue learning outside of the office, Gateway partnered with the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh to provide employees and their families with significant admission and membership discounts for all Pittsburgh museums.

By encouraging personal and professional growth and providing healthy options for all employees, the “Eat Well Think Well Act Well” initiative is one of the many reasons to choose Gateway.  Learn more about our career openings and benefits at View Current Openings
