Gateway Engineers Recognized in Grand Opening of Montour Trail Southpointe Connector Project
Gateway Engineers was recently recognized and participated in the ribbon-cutting opening ceremony for its work to connect the existing Montour Trail to Southpointe in Cecil Township.
Dan Deiseroth, President Emeritus of Gateway Engineers, who provided the engineering and technical support to the project, commented that, “the completion of this phase of the Montour Trail connection adds another major asset to the live, work and play environment that continues to make Southpointe the gem of Cecil Township, Washington County and Southwestern Pennsylvania.”
In addition to the economic benefits, the Southpointe Connector will increase access to low/no cost recreational and fitness opportunities for both residents and the Southpointe workforce, providing something for users of all socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities. This project also establishes a direct connection to the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s cross-country Great American Rail-Trail (route includes the Montour and Panhandle Trails) and the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail, which offers users the ability to travel from Washington D.C. to Washington State (through Washington County).
