Gateway project team advances project through many phases
Gateway Engineers assisted MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. in selecting the location for the Carpenter Compressor Station. Understanding the role in which hydraulic systems play in compressor station operation, the project team was able to work closely with the client’s lead personnel to evaluate multiple site options. Utilizing Gateway’s in-house GIS mapping and land development solutions, the team evaluated each site option for road, environmental, site, neighboring property, and utility restrictions until narrowing down the selection to the Carpenter Site located in Washington County, Pennsylvania.
Once the site was selected, Gateway provided a full range of engineering services including: survey, environmental, geotechnical, site design, permitting, structural, and construction administration. At the time of site design, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) was in the process of changing their permit requirements from ESCGP-1 to ESCGP-2. It became imperative to the preservation of the project’s scope, schedule, and budget that the design could be approved before the PA DEP changes were made. The project team was able to leverage Gateway’s proven project management system to efficiently advance the project through the design phase before the differing PA DEP permit changes were made, enabling the project to stay on course.
During the Township review process, it was identified that a subdivision plan was going to be required by the Township solicitor and engineer. Given our local experience with the Township and County, our survey team was able to prepare the required plan to the requirements of the reviewing agencies in a timely fashion to have approved with the site development without any affect on the overall project schedule.
