South Side Works Complex South Side Works is an open-air complex located on the south shore of the three rivers at the site of the former LTV Steel Mill along East Carson Street. Work for this project has been ongoing for the last 15 years. In the beginning, The Gateway Engineers, Inc. completed a Topography Survey of 100 acres and has continued to help with the needs of all kinds of clients. Over the years, Gateway teamed with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, SAI Consulting Engineers, P.J. Dick Corporation and Soffer Organization and will continue to team with other clients as needed. To date, Gateway has prepared approximately 25 subdivision plans, flown the site twice, and performed the majority of the construction stake-out services needed for P.J. Dick Corporation. Gateway has performed numerous ALTA Surveys for the developer, Soffer Organization. A survey was done on East Carson Street for widening and reconstruction. Gateway's Survey Team is always involved in proposed projects for this area. Future developments include a hotel, a condominium, an outdoor concert pavilion and a health and fitness center. The $300 million complex opened in stages between 2002 and 2004. It offers more than 34 acres of shops, offices, hotels and apartments.
