University of Pittsburgh Upper Campus Housing – Phase 2 The University of Pittsburgh is expanding to include a second new building in the Upper Campus section of the University. The new construction project consists of a student housing facility that offers apartments and hotel-style units for 512 students.

New housing was in demand from undergraduate students requesting private bedrooms and more apartment-style living.

In 2005, the Survey Team at The Gateway Engineers, Inc. began this project with an existing conditions survey provided to the University by Perkins Eastman Architects, P.C.

The Land Development Team for Gateway assisted with the Site Civil Engineering.

P.J. Dick, Inc. was then awarded the contract to construct the new facility and contacted Gateway. The second phase of this particular project for the survey team was to perform stake-out services of the proposed site grading and utility installation.

The foundation layout of the building was also designed by Gateway.

Construction of Phase 2 for the Upper Campus Housing is scheduled to open in fall 2006.
