The Pittsburgh Children's Museum Working with the Pittsburgh Children's Museum Board and the project Architects, The Gateway Engineers, Inc. was a crucial team member in the development to expand the Pittsburgh Children's Museum and join it with the former Buhl Planetarium Building.

The Museum recently won the 2006 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Award for Architecture.

This project involved the construction of a four-story “Lantern” addition which connects the existing “Old Post Office Building,” currently housing the Children's Museum, to the former Buhl Planetarium Building. A new parking lot was also added to the “Old Post Office” side of the property. The street was vacated and a new relocated city street was built.

The project included grading, researching, coordinating and implementation of all site utilities, design of sewers, PWSA tap connection plans, special paving, planning module approval, permitting, and city streetscape design.
