Chatham College Athletic & Fitness Center Working with Hastings and Chivetta Architects, Inc., of St. Louis, The Gateway Engineers, Inc. is proud to have been involved in site design for the new Athletic and Fitness Center at Chatham College. The new Athletic and Fitness Center which has been constructed on the former site of the tennis courts, adjacent to Andrew W. Mellon Hall and the Carriage House, features state-of-the-art fitness and recreational facilities. The two-story, four-level building, designed by architects Hastings and Chivetta of St. Louis, complements the architectural style of the existing structures on campus and was built low and into the ground, so as not to dominate the College and the neighborhood skyline. The size of the facility is modest — it remains in scale with the rest of the campus buildings — but it will meet Chatham's athletic and fitness needs. Gateway's role in the project included an ALTA survey, grading, researching, coordinating and implementation of all site utilities, design of sewers, PWSA tap connection plans, Planning Module approval, and permitting.
